Glass on Fins, Always

July 23rd, 2010 § 0

I’ve done a bunch today with my stealth fishy: last lamination on board and fins. glassed on fins and hot coat. All that’s left is the leash plug and some minor fillers but only after I test it tomorrow morning. Mitch was sanding his Vdub during the whole process.

Did some tail work today along with making some fins that are tad bit too small. Might make this a quad.

Drop’N'Chop Flex Fin: Part 2

June 30th, 2010 § 0

The SCO logo is finally within the fin. I added the final layers and started foiling the fin. I added the metal bits and jammed it into my hull just to see how it looks. I think I’ll do some more foiling tomorrow to make it look neater.

Rail Sequence

December 27th, 2009 § 0

So I’m finally going to do a legit post. I found a rowing machine, Phil broke the seat off, we turned it into a rail. Sadly we haven’t seshuaned it yet since the weather has been quite unfriendly to skaters.

Here are the materials: Rowing exercise machine, wood, and more wood.

A different angle.

Sco Man got a bit boardslid.

Joe squeezing some contact adhesive.

Rail is set.

Sprayed for style points.

I think red and light blue and black were all that we had.

Added a few staches.

Deck Numero Tres

September 12th, 2009 § 0

I made another deck today. This time I used poplar wood. It was pretty thick so I planed it down a couple of times. Not the flexiest of boards but it’s made for cruising. This is probably my cleanest board yet.

Another Deck For Stolen Griptape

September 11th, 2009 § 0

Since I stole Matt’s griptape yesterday when I was making my skateboard deck, he made me build him a deck. I’m super stoked with the outline and the graphic on the bottom.

Surfboard Construction: Day 2

August 13th, 2009 § 1

I skinned the blank, shaped the board and glassed the bottom. Pretty stoked with the shape, not with the glass job but it’s all good.

Hull Construction Begins…

August 11th, 2009 § 1

Today I finally started to work on the foam. I’m pretty happy with the outline of the board. It’s too late to plane off the crust since it’s 9pm and the electric planer is so loud. I’ll have a go tomorrow.

DSC_9096The blank was 7’9 so I took off 9 inches from the nose and tail combined.

Hull Template

August 10th, 2009 § 1

The hands on construction of any surfboard usually starts with making a template. This one is mine.  7 feet long, 23 inches wide, it’s gonna be a sick board.
